So as some of you know the name of my blog is a nerdy Star Trek reference to the Borg (an alien race that assimilates technology from anyone they encounter). Anyway, I have not written about my Star Trek obsession lately so I thought I would take some time to do that. I was reading all the “16 Random Things” and “25 Random Things” that everyone has been writing on Facebook and the blog world and was thinking maybe it would be fun to do 25 Random Thing post with a theme. And what’s my favorite theme….STAR TREK! So without further ado here is….
25 Random Things About Star Trek
- My favorite Star Trek series is Star Trek the Next Generation.
- Sometimes Jesse puts on our head phones over his eyes and we call him Geordi LaForge.
- I wish they would have made more episodes of Star Trek Enterprise.
- According to Star Trek we live in the Alpha Quadrant
- They call people from Earth Terrans on Star Trek.
- My favorite alien race on Star Trek are Vulcans.
- When I was a kid I used to watch Star Trek with my parents.
- My favortie Star Trek captian is Jean- Luc Picard.
- I watched every episode of Star Trek Voyager in my last weeks of pregnancy and first weeks of Jesse’s life. And Dan watched an episode in the hospital while I was in labor.
- Replicators are the coolest Star Trek invention. With holodecks at a close second.
- Dan does not like that Whoopie Goldberg is in Star Trek TNG.
- I have seen every episode of every Star Trek Series except the original.
- I do not really like the orginal Star Trek series but I love the movies with those actors.
- My favorite Star Trek movie is Star Trek Insurrection. (it includes the TNG cast)
- If I could be any Star Trek Character I would be Deanna Troi.
- They talk about “hot button” issues (like homosexuality, racisim etc.) on Star Trek a lot but in a round about way.
- My least favorite alien race on Star Trek are the Bajorans.
- Although I think Star Trek is cool I find the thought of traveling in space frightening.
- Ferengi women do not wear clothes.
- My favorite character on Star Trek is William Riker.
- When I was pregnant we talked about naming the baby William Riker Marlow:)
- Trills have this weird slug thing that lives in side of them and keeps all their memories when the host body dies…I find this gross.
- They always talk about following “The Prime Directive” on Star Trek but a lot of the episodes are about how they did not follow it.
- Star Trek characters are very musical; Will Riker plays the trombone, Cpt. Picard plays a flute he got on from an alien, Harry Kim plays the clarinet, Data plays the violin and Seven of Nine sings.
- When I get a text message on my phone it plays the Star Trek TNG theme song.
So there is my Star Trek post for the month. Sorry to those of you who don’t understand this strange love I have with Star Trek. Maybe next month I will do “25 Random Things About LOTR!”
WOW!!! That was really, really good AND I understood everyone of them. i can say that i have seen all the original Star Trek episodes…so i guess I’m as dorky as you. you can blame your father and I for this!!!
Ok…I love you but that was a let down. I’m all pumped that you post a new blog…and it’s Star Trek!!?? Oh well, you’re still awesome, sorry I keep missing your facebook chats, I keep leaving my computer on and walking away!
Oh don’t worry mom…I completely blame you and Dad for this sickness….but luckily Dan has the Sci-fi sickness too so really it helped me bond with my husband better…so I guess a thank you is in order:)
I love you Andrea.
I just realized that my roommate is also a HUGE Star-Trek fan. Reading your list kinda makes me want to watch some of it.
FYI – I just learned that the traveling Star Trek Expo opened on Friday (2/13/09) at the Detroit Science Center. I bet you guys would love it. We’re going to try to hit it sometime in the next month.
(BTW – Jesse is young enough to get in free, and there is a kids section that would be entertaining for him. Anna loved the toddler section when we went down in the fall!)
Cool! I get all 25.
That is because I too have a bit of inner-geek and she loves Star Trek, especially the Next Generation.
Stop by my blog and check out my two posts today! I’d love to hear your thoughts as a fellow, female trekkie.
